The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at St. Joseph's Degree College for Women was established in 2010, initially as part of the degree program offering a combination with physics and chemistry. Subsequently, in 2014, the department expanded its academic offerings by introducing statistics as a subject within the undergraduate curriculum. This expansion led to the introduction of combinations such as mathematics, statistics & computer science, and mathematics, physics, and computer science.

Comprising a dynamic mix of both seasoned and active young faculty, the department acknowledges mathematics as the foundational subject for the physical sciences and a crucial element in technological advancement in today's world. Recognizing its significance, the department is committed to presenting the subject matter in a manner that ensures accessibility for all students, irrespective of their academic background.
